The cost of constructing the Kingfisher Hide was met by a generous donation of £5,000 by Joanne Burnett on behalf of her dear friend Mr Nigel Render who died 25th September 2016 aged 53.

The hide was prefabricated during 2020, by local joiner Scott McLean, and erected in September 2020 by Scott, assisted by his father, James and friend Chris Taylor. At that stage it had a temporary roof due to a shortage of the intended roofing material. The hide was completed in February 2021, when the local blacksmith, Alan Thomson, fitted the tin roof.

The Kingfisher Hide is situated in the south-east corner of the reserve, overlooking the pond and the resident wildfowl and with occasional sightings of the kingfisher, heron and otter.
